CUSTOM CABLE ASSEMBLIES · BUILT TO YOUR SPECIFICATION
Custom Flexible Cable Assemblies for OEM Equipment
Cablum cuts, terminates and assembles customer-specified flexible wire or cable with the required connectors, following the customer’s drawing and approved component requirements.
Define the cable, endpoints and finished configuration for your equipment. We review the assembly work and quotation scope; we do not present a universal cable construction or flex-life rating.

Your Selected Flexible Cable, Supplied as a Finished Assembly
This service turns the specified wire or cable into an assembly with defined lengths, prepared ends, terminations and connectors. Cable selection remains tied to the approved specification rather than the appearance of a sample.
Cut to the Defined Length
Supply the finished-length datum and tolerance, including any differences between overall length, exposed cable and individual conductor lengths.
Terminate the Specified Ends
Identify the contacts and termination requirements for the selected conductor and connector. Unresolved combinations need review before a production commitment.
Assemble the Required Connectors
Provide housing references, cavity assignments and orientation views so the completed ends match the controlled connection definition.
Scope: custom assembly using specified flexible materials—not a claim that Cablum draws conductors, extrudes cable jackets or manufactures the selected bulk cable.
Define the Finished Configuration
If the specified material is a flexible power cable, see custom flexible power cable assemblies for conductor size, terminal fit, polarity and protection inputs needed for review. Finished current capacity depends on the selected materials and approved assembly requirements.
| Assembly detail | What the customer defines |
|---|---|
| Cable identification | Manufacturer and part number, or an approved cable specification; conductor size, core count and other required construction details. |
| Connector ends | Complete housing and contact references, cavity assignment and connector view. Identify any end that is intentionally left without a connector. |
| Lengths and orientation | Measurement datums, tolerances, strip lengths, connector exit direction and any branch dimensions. |
| Protection and marking | Specified sleeving, heat-shrink, strain-relief parts and labels, including their locations. |
| Acceptance | The agreed dimensional, visual and electrical checks, and the records required for the order. |
Use a connector-to-connector pinout table alongside the assembly drawing when documenting the connections.

Tell Us How the Cable Will Be Routed
Distinguish an assembly that bends during installation from one expected to move repeatedly in service. Include the equipment layout, available space and any customer-defined movement or routing constraints.
A flexible material description alone is not a statement that the completed assembly is suitable for continuous flexing, torsion, robotic motion or a particular drag chain. If those duties apply, provide the selected cable documentation and the required assembly-level validation conditions for review.
We do not state a universal bend radius, motion-cycle life, voltage, current or environmental rating on this page. Applicable limits and verification must be established for the selected materials and the specific finished design.
From Specification to an Agreed Assembly Scope
- Submit the build definition: drawing revision, cable specification, connector BOM, connection table and quantities.
- Resolve open details: confirm lengths, termination requirements, protection and inspection scope. Identify any proposed component alternative separately.
- Confirm the quoted configuration: agree the component basis and any required sample or approval stage before releasing production.
- Build and verify to the agreed requirements: the order’s assembly and inspection scope follows the approved project documents.

Flexible Cable Assembly Questions
Can you use the cable and connectors specified in our drawing?
Yes. Cablum can perform cutting, termination and assembly based on customer-specified flexible wire or cable and connector requirements. Component availability and the particular assembly requirements are reviewed for the quotation.
Do you manufacture the flexible bulk cable itself?
This page covers assembly processing of specified wire or cable. It does not offer bulk cable design or extrusion.
Can you guarantee repeated bending performance?
Not from the word “flexible” alone. Provide the actual operating duty and acceptance criteria. Any performance commitment or validation scope requires project-specific agreement.
What if the cable part number is not yet fixed?
Send the available specification and identify the selection as pending. The final cable and termination requirements must be agreed before the assembly is released for production.
Request a Custom Flexible Cable Assembly Quote
Send your drawing, specified cable and connector references, connection table, quantity and intended routing conditions. State whether components are customer-supplied or need to be sourced for the order.
