OBD-II Cable FAQ

Custom OBD2 Cable Assembly Questions

Confirm the interface, pinout and validation basis before requesting an OBD-II splitter cable quotation.

Can an OBD-II splitter use a custom pinout?

Yes. Pass-through and project-specific mappings can be reviewed from the customer drawing. Power, ground, communication circuits and unused positions should be identified before quotation.

Which connector and cable details are needed?

Provide the mating interface, connector orientation, branch length, wire gauge, jacket requirements and pin-to-pin connection table. See our wire harness drawing checklist.

Can alternative materials be considered?

Only when permitted by the customer. Specified and alternative components should be controlled through the BOM and approval process. Review our materials and components guidance.

How is an OBD2 cable assembly inspected?

Inspection can include visual checks, dimensional verification and electrical testing according to the agreed project scope. See our quality testing capabilities.
